they have to find something to put down an A series as it embarrasses too many modern engines. In the rules pdf nothing states bolt quality so I undertand your frustration.

what happened with this head is as follows

when pulling engine down for a rebuild the last 1/2 a dozen threads pulled out of the head
upon checking the depth of the threads in the block i found some studs that were the correct size and used these,In no way is this a performance enhancing modification it was done to simply reclaim a head that would possibly had to be thrown away,
You ask why i did not use heli-coils i build put my engine together my self and do not have heli-coil gear in my shed.
under the code of practice for engine reconditioning section 2.4 you may use suitable reclaim techniques

to be fined 1000 dollars and disqualified for 12 months is totally wrong as there is people out there that are using titanium rods cam followers etc and that is wrong i even had one person ask what rings i use i told him standard of the shelf cheap as chips rings his reply he has chrome molly rings made?????

Good for you. Since it was totally wrong, your appeal will be granted.

I'd be real interested to have someone explain to me how the use of studs to secure the rocker shaft provide an improvement in either performance or reliability.
Standard bolts in threads that are in good condition are not known as a common failure point in our Datsuns, the threads are usually damaged when the bolts are removed or re-installed. The additional strength of studs over bolts is like comparing the killing of ants with a 2 pound hammer or a 4 pound one.
The end result is exactly the same.

Good fortune with any counter protest that you may mount.
