while im sitting around doing sweet half of buggger all thought i might start a thread.

so i picked her up off a mate as he was moving house and it had been sitting in his shed for 5 years collecting dust. and i needed a new car as i had just sold my navara and missed the smell of a datsun. i used to own a VB10 to those who dont know was my first car when i was 16. lost my virginity in the back of that beast haha.
anyway back on topic
my new ute is a 71 model have started getting all my carbies togeather and hopefully next week she can be moved to the workshop to lift the engine out and give her a freshen up. i was informed on purchase that it had the A14 in it but recently i have discovered its an A14 bottom end with A12 normal head. which i spose is good and bad.
the ute had had a close encounter with a tree when i bought it lucky its still straight just replaced the front quater, bonnet and front apron and it all lines up :)

anyway il keep you posted further.

is it an oval port head? its definitely 1.4L

the lil dude is for dizzie vaccum I would have thought and needs a T connector for both
ones before it goes to the dizzie.
The big one is for the rocker cover if not connected yet? otherwise it can be blocked
if already connected. Most connections need to use a T connector.

edit: just saw the manifold afain d1000 so must be round port.
It would have been better to use an oval port head.

If you have a chance to get another cheap round port head ported yourself to before hitting the water jackets and especially the short turn radius. Shave it for 10:1 compression in order to get those big carbs flowing well.

The rallye guys I met some years ago preferred the round port head fully ported and
to the point where they hit the water jackets and they just devcon or steel 2 pack
putty (selleys steel putty) where theyve gone too far and hit water.

you know what really iritates me. people who think bog is the answer to all problems. a previous owner of my ute has damaged the light surround and instead of fixing it properly they just filled it all with bog. i hate finding things i didnt want to no iv gotta get the slide hammer out and the mig and fix it properly.

and also i dont think these pistons will fit my A series DOH !!
