whats the story behind the coils?
what valve cover is that?
why is there a gauge on the rocker
why does this engine have no engine/radiator fan
whats kind of carb is this 240k? are they bolt on and are they better than the A12 hitachi's?

Looks like a LHD.

Engine would be a A14/15 looking at the rocker cover and intake manifold bolt pattern (can't be too sure).

Guage is weird, maybe measuring blowby pressure?

The engine has an engine, it also has a radiator and I would think it'd have a fan.

Any a series carb for a bigger A series will be of some benefit in power, probably the same though.

Actually that gauge looks like it is connected to the canister on the firewall.....maybe measuring vacuum.

That is Swet's Datsun 1200 ute out of Taiwan. It is an A12.

The carburetor is a Nikki carb, as fitted to many Datsun engines, often seen on the Datsun 510. I have seen other A12s with this carburetor and most of the J13 have it too.

can i bolt on the nikki carb to my a12?
if i grab one from the l series motors will they need to be rejet to suit the a12?

Yes, and yes. They used to sell jet kits for Nikki on A12.
