I guys i have upgraded my alternator to a 60 amp internal regulator. I am also replacing/upgrading the battery positive wire from the alternator to battery. What i want to know is should i keep the same fusable link or do i need to replace it to a higher amp fuseable link? Another question i have, is thier a difference between stereo power cable and auto power cable. The only thing iv noticed is that the stereo cable is more flexiable than the auto cable. Cheers

Lots of little strands is better! I would be using a battery cable from The auto store rather than stereo amp wire

I started with amp cable but now i redone it with 8 gauge auto cable. Just need to sort out a circuit breaker or fuse now...

The only thing I did when I replaced my external reg. alternator with an internal alternator is pull the external regulator out of the system. You don't need the silver box. It doesn't hurt to replace the wire but do use auto cable.

Agreed. It must be multi-strand cable.

The fusible link will protect the original 1200 wiring harness -- so do not put a larger one in. More details at http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawi ... ex.php?title=Fusible_Link

The original fuse box is only 85 AMP total. If you want to take more power out, add new wiring for the stereo, with a fuse for the new wire near the battery -- a fuse instead of a fusible link for the new wiring.

Thanks for the info and saving me a potential disaster. Even though my cable is double the size as standard I see why the standard fusable link is important as the power distribution goes the fuse box and alternator, I always thought it only protected the alternator.... Thanks again
