Right Im not after the ultimate performance for one of my K projects
so Im aiming for better than standard in looks and performance :)
The inlet is going to go up into 90 degree bends and a small plenum for
a single 2 inch SU carburettor or 1.75 stromberg sitting on a 45 degree
angle with a velocity stack all shined up. Either on the same side or
curving over to the other side to increase torque down low on the asthmatic
A10 with its 59mm stroke.
Here is so far what Im thinking but in stainless steel tubing meeting
bent at the end to meet the rest of the exhaust.
The first 2 pics are the inspiration...

Would anyone else be interested in something like this?
Im going to try make them the exhaust in stainless steel
and the inlet manifold in Alloy.
Im leaning towards the inlet manifold runners going over the rocker covers
for extra torque and better clearance of inlet filter.
The runners could be used for dual or quad carbs depending on needs.

I hear ya D.
Got me thinking about the 1930s Austin Special type pipes how much an awesome feature of the car they were.

I reckon this one nails it for style and simplicity. Would translate to the a-series and 1k engine bay well too...count me in!

Right on the money Wurz, the only difference is the middle pipes need separation
to help with flow a tad, as you can see in the pic of the Austin the middle pipe
doesnt get hot enough to be discoloured. The cooler the pipes the less efficiency.

Id love to use to use the back of the engine somehow with a shaft from the front to
spin a supercharger. So the inlet is at the front using the mitsubishi style supercharger.
The pic below is how the supercharger will face if looking up below the passenger side
The only biggie is how to spin it so the inlet faces the front grille.
It would look so cool have a single SU, alloy rocker cover and supercharger all polished
and the rod exhaust also acting as support with insulation in between.

When you say use the back of the engine what do you mean?

I think a transverse shaft between the pulley at the back of the engine bay and the crank at the front of the engine bay would definitely be doable but you'd need to place it fairly well and the bracketry to support it would need to be fairly solid. Would be a cool opportunity to incorporate a nice custom guard around the shaft (you wouldn't want that transverse shaft picking up any loose clothing and pulling you into it!). But is it worth the hassle? maybe for the looks?

So how far into this build have you progressed now? Or are you still planing it out.

All in the planning stages Chris.

The pulley needs to face the firewall if using the mikuni charger
to get the inlet/su pictured facing the front.
So the shaft will need to be incorporated on the dizzie side perhaps on the early
engines and inlet/exhaust side on the late engines.

Im leaning towards the later engines for a supercharged version and the earlier one
for a simple SU setup.

Lovely setup on the Austin

I'm confused. I think.

But hey! Looking forward to this when it moves to the build thread stage. That little parcel SC that you should me was mighty compact and neat ( I think it was on a Ford?).

Which car will this engine go into? The coupe?

The Van needs something to keep up with Lagwagons
a15 quad 40mm hi tech injected, equal length SS headers
vs
a10 supercharged, low tech SU, SS fish spine fart pipes

Just got back from Geelong and got 2 superchargers for a twin charge setup :)
just kidding one for an A10 and the other for the A12.
I also got a set of excellent SUS with the external fuel bowls as recommended
by SU worshipping Jmac. They are both 1.75mm just right for the 1-1.2 liters.
