After receiving a RARE SPARES gift voucher from a friend, I entered the rare spare store on SOUTH ROAD asking whether they would honour the voucher as it had expired a few months ago.

To my surprise the voucher was rejected and RARE spares has now pocketed a large sum of money at FULL PROFIT. You would think that to a customer who has spend several thousand dollars in that store that alittle understanding and negotiation would occur. I was given such a moronic excuse as to why they would not honour it. Shame shame shame they will not be seeing my face in that the store again.

Ring up their head office if they have one and ask speak to someone in customer service.
They should at a minimum honor it to a certain percentage.

This is quite disappointing to hear. I work for a large Australian retail group and we will typically honour gift vouchers up to around 6 months after the expiration date.
While Rare Spares are not obligated to help you I cannot see why it would have been an issue.

I found them to be very expensive and hard to deal with so I didn't spend a cent there.

They told me all 1200 rubber seal sets are the same, my doors are coupe doors but the glass channel/frame?? is about 40mm higher than the coupe door, plus my rear side windows are a very different shape.

They have bogan fever now that they have the production licensing for modern holden bits. I rang them a couple of years ago trying to source a 120y front apron and I felt the response was dismal, they could of sourced a bloody panel where I ended up sourcing it and using that as an excuse to charge extra tooling costs for their panel stampers!

Just FYI
A response about the same thread on Torana forums from Rares

Firstly, by way of clarification I would like to make you aware the store in question is not a company owned store but an independently owned, franchised outlet and, as such we have no control over their actions regarding matters outside of the franchise agreement, such as in this case the manner in which they treat expired vouchers etc.
Secondly I would like to make it crystal clear the voucher in question was not a Rare Spares voucher but one issued by Restorers Hotline, a company totally unrelated to Rare Spares but also under the ownership of the proprietors of Rare Spares (Adelaide). It seems to me to be a bit unreasonable to be the subject of a post regarding a matter that in fact we had no involvement in.
Thirdly, after talking with Andrew at Restorers Hotline it appears the voucher was more than a "few months" out of date, I am told it actually expired at the end of December 2009 which to my reckoning is some 6 months ago.
While I don't intend at this stage to enter into a debate as to whether time expired vouchers should be honoured or not , clearly this one was well out of date.
That said, if the author of the original post would like to contact Andrew he would be prepared to try and work out an amicable solution to the matter.
Andrew had, prior to this blow up and subsequent posts, second thought his decision and had unsuccessfully tried to contact original poster as not with standing all Rare Spare (Adelaide) / Restores Hotline invoices bearing the customer's name he was unable to find any details of the customer in question.
I hope I have not over stepped the rules of the forum, that the situation has been clarified and that with the co-operation of both parties the issue can be suitably resolved.
In closing I would also like to re-iterate Rare Spare's policy at our company owned stores is, and always has been, that all Rare Spares vouchers will be honoured no matter how old.
Regards
David Ryan
