im about to buy my CA conversion gear off a mate who was gonna put it in a bluebird and the gearbox it comes with is the CA20 box and i was wondering if i can get away with it fitting my ute tunnel or am i going to have to make a new one ? and will the shifter hole sit far back from STD?

and what diff should i be using i dont think the ol ute diff will hold up to the CA conversion i know i can use a shortened r31 diff but they arent cheap trying to keep it to a tight budget can i use some sort of bluebird diff ? or a stanza diff ? and should i lock it or leave it open?

thanks casey

Check out my build thread re: R31 Diff as it has cost me $180 to re-spline one axle and I have shorted the housing myself and done all the fab work. So if you have the equipment or a mate that can help it's one of the cheapest options.

You could look at the late model ute diff the h65 from memory

Another option is the smaller Borgwarner 65 diff as oposed the the 75 borgy out of the skyline. Not as heavy and wont take as much punishment. But I have ran one for 12 months in my coupe with no problems. You can get one out of a 120y or ke30 -55 corolla. There is a section on the wiki about axle swaps and it details the available ratio's of these diffs.
