Just embarking on doing Draw through Turbo Setup in me L16 1200 sedan.
How do people think I would go running a 32/36 Weber ? Or can you tell me your experience on the best carb to run ?
Setup plan so far. Custom made plenum, Low Mount turbo manifold T25 CA18 Turbo, All on stock L16.
Idea is to make an Adapter/manifold from turbo to 32/36 weber.
Any help tips be great eager to get it happening.
This is all new to me other than a little theory and conversations with supafatto about his turbo a14, So go easy guys HA HA.

sounds to me like you are onto it to be honest.
A draw through turbo setup that is not a crazy high hp setup, but a mild every day streeter is not much more than what you have said.
Its the tuning thats the real challange from my understanding.

As much as I like webers, generally an SU is your best option for a small turbo engine.

The only other thing wrong with your plan is that you don't need a plenum as such - the turbo blows straight into the intake (asuming you're running no intercooler).

This is a ghetto setup but is a good picture as it shows you clearly how it should all go together. Note also they're using an SU carb.

Actually, I cracked out my 1337 MS-Paint skills to draw up a basic schematic.

IMHO the best way to do this is:

1. Make custom manifold in whatever style you prefer. Turbo is now mounted.
2. 3" dump and from there 2.5-3" depending on budget/preference.
3. Get a cheap single sidedraught intake. Make a pipe to connect the turbo compressor outlet to the sidedraught intake. It's just neater than runing a stock manifold with a looped pipe like I've seen done before.
4. Make up an adapter to connect the SU to the turbo.
5. Oil lines are a piece of piss. Water lines optional, do them if you can afford it. Nice to keep some heat out if you're not running an intercooler.

If you don't already have the turbo, I'd suggest going for a BB T28. They're cheap, available, and much better & newer than a T25. That said, there's nothing wrong with a T25 as long as it's in good condition.

Thanks man. So i could actually make a bent pipe that runs from turbo to intake with a plate on one end that bolts to the original carby mounting bolts ?

Yep, absolutely. That's the easiest way to do it. I'll see if I can find a pic...

There's also no reason, assuming you have room, that you can't do a similar thing with the standard ehxuast manifold. Just a 180deg loop with a turbo flange on it.

In both cases, you'll get 95% of your performance gain by doing it this way. There's a little more power/response/neatness in doing it properly but it will certainly work. The turbo manifold on my last toy was four feet long:

even cheqper than a side draught L series manifold is a SU manifold... you can make a little pleumn but any unburnt fuel in it will just sit there, and if you back fire- boom!
