Spun bearing by the sounds of it, is it tight to turn over?

Yeah it needs to be completely dismantled to get to the faulty bearing(s). It's difficult to gauge what you consider as insufficient oiling to the head (if that's what you meant) but the oiling circuit will not fail to serve the rocker assembly lubrication if one bearing is spun. So either there are two issues, a spun bearing and a faulty lubrication system to the head (blockage, wrong head-bolt etc) or it's just the one issue with the spun bearing and the rocker assembly lubrication is actually fine (a lot of people expect to see 'more-oil' happening at the rocker assembly and this could be one of those instances).

Did you check for oil pressure when you first fired it up? I would say there was little to no pressure at the start (you're description of little oiling going on up top) and she's gotten hot on one bearing, tightened up and spun it out. Crank journal may also need to be looked at.

well thats a real blow back to the start again. i didnt check oil pressure didnt now i needed to like i said im not real switch on with this stuff. so a faulty oil pump would cause low oil pressure? is there any place u can take them to get tested? or can u buy new ones?

The oil pumps are probably the most reliable part of the engine, sometimes after a fresh rebuild, or maybe in your case when it has been sitting for so long, the oil pump needs a little priming to get it to pull the oil and build pressure (people tend to pack the pump with vaseline first). Yeah you should have checked it, standard procedure really.

You can buy new ones for $70-100 but you don't need a new one so not too sure where that will get you. Probably best to check it when you pull it off, take a couple of screws out of and check it out.
