I brought this datsun about 10 years ago just as a run around. liked it so much decided to do a ground up rebuild. It was gonna have the best of every thing! So it got striped down to a shell ready for a mean paint job and repower. Then it sat in the shed for the next 8 yeas. A wife and 2 kids later I came to realise that I would have trouble findind the time and money to complete it. So the paint job ended up being a quick flick back to the orignal colour one weekend and the repower an a15 with a lightend flywheel and 2 inch exuast. other than that it was stock. Was good just to drive it again. I took the car over to manfeild race track one weekend and enterd the duel car sprints. Did a couple of 1 min 34 sec laps(Managed to beat a couple of twincam corollas)and decided this was to be my base time for a buget track car

Welcome..

Manfeild is my old stomping ground, lived in Palmy and Fielding for quite a few years. Did a few open days, having fun spanking all the new metal, nice to see datto's are still doing the same

By the next meeting I had found a 32/36 weber and put some b210 ball joints in to get some more camber. Managed to do a couple of 1 min 33 sec laps. That was a year ago have sorced some other bits and peices since then. Next meeting is in March

Over the last couple of months I have been putting bits I have collected together.Car now has b310 bottom and steering arms, bluebird struts, toyota celica shock inserts, 120y 20mm sway bar, shortend caster rods, coilover springs, reset rear leaf springs and noltec bushes front and back. Now it sits about 2-3 inches lower.

Still got a couple of weeks before next track day so the motor came out last weekend.I sent the cam to get reground to a a566 and orderd sum valve springs.
It use to run out of puff about 5000rpm so the cam should wake it up a bit.
a566 has 239 duration @.050" and .296" lift (3000rpm to 7000rpm powerband).
Also got a dogleg 5 speed gearbox and put a new set of bearings through it.

i can see you sapre race motor in the back ground there, but whydid you paint it yellow

looks better. what rate springs are you running on the front? and did you cut and shut the strut tube or just weld on the collars for the threads? The little rings towards the bottom of the strut remind me of the 510 strut mods for cut and heat/cold interfacing of the tubes before welding s13 tube onto them

Thats the wifes yellow ride in the back.
The struts have standard length bodys they were slightly shorter than the 1200 ones but the inserts where way shorter. I spaced them to the top of the tube (about 60mm)and they where still about 2-3 inches shorter in overall extended length than the standard ones. Front springs are 200lbs.the rings are cable ties holding the break hoses
