how hard is it to come across a decent running CA20?

i may be perchasing a gazelle with the sale of my pulsar and it suposedly has an issue with the cam gear timing. what would be the best solution here take it to a mechanic or swap motors?

id love to drop a FJ turbo or even CA18 turbo in there but funds are very limited right now and i need a reliable car for work

Best solution is to fix the cam gear timing. But if you have to pay mechanics wages then it's usually no bargain.

Zig dont go the cool car for a daily route. By the time you fix the head issues
it will be an expensive experience. Trust me alot can go wrong, youd best get
something running well or complete and know it only needs a little mechanics.
Theres an r30 skyline coupe with fj20et on OZdat that would be an easy head
gasket change (supplied by owner) and you have a valuating car compared to the sylvia.

yes that R30 coupe looks fantastic and i want it bad but isnt registered, the gazelle is registered and cheap and if it didnt have that timing cam chain issue it would have freed up some cash for my datto

I've got a Ca20 sitting on me shed floor and as you know i will be in Ipswich on Saturday arvo. If there the same CA20 as whats in the R31 pintara (twin coil job) then its yours for $50 and it ran fine in the car before i removed it. Yo will need to find out soon though as we leave Saturday morning.
