Hi.
I am changing my datsun 1982 210 from a automatic 3 speed, 1.2 liter to a 5 speed manual 2 liter from a Datsun 1981 wagon. I hear it is a bolt in project, would I need to do any cuts to fit in the transmission? Or move the brake master cylinder to the passanger side? Are there any wires that need to be extended?
Better yet - where is a good place to look for information on this project?

Thank you :)
Allie

better place to start is to give more information. datsun would have made more than 1 wagon in 1981 so it would be handy to know which one or which engine it is

being that you have a 210, and you have heard its a bolt in conversion. then im guessing that the wagon you are talking about is a b310 with an L20b engine

if that is the case then if you use pretty much the whole b310 front end the engine will bolt in, you wont have to move master cylinders or anything. you will have to put the clutch pedal setup out of the b310 into your car as the L series run hydrauluic clutch setups

if you use the b310 diff or if its the same as the one you have, then the b310 tailshaft should work. but then if yours is a sedan and the other car a wagon it may be different, dont know if the wheel base changes or not
Alternator wiring will have to be extended over to the other side. coil wires might also have to be changed if you mount your coil on the same side as the distributor

transmission tunnel should be long enough, crossmember from the wagon might work in your car. you will probably have to modify the shifter hole to suit the manual shifter

thats about all, if the wagon isnt a b310...then not much of what i said is relevant

She has a "Datsun 210" which is the B310.

The L20B + transmission should come from a 1981 A10 (510/Stanza/Violet). It is a bolt-in and so needs no modification to the tunnel or any hard parts. Use the driveshaft the Auto uses teh same as teh L20B 5-speed.

You will need minor modifications like the length of the reverse lamp wiring. Auto and manual are different wiring. You don't need the reverse lamp wiring to get it running but have to jumper the auto wiring to get it to start.

If you fit the front crossmember from the A10 then no mods are needed to the B310. Use the L20B engine mounts.

Use the A10 exhaust system too. If it is a sedan it might fit the B310 sedan. But wagon to sedan is slightly different and will need some welding or modding.

Oh, there is no step-by-step guide to this swap. What we have discussed with Owlie here in the Main forum is probably the most complete discussion.

Several people have done this swap but provided no list of the details needed. Just general info which I have compiled over the years and repeated here and in Owlie's previous posts.

The 1981 2 liter A15a engine in the datson 210 wagon will go into my car the Datsun 210 1982. My car currently has a 1.2 liter, automatic, 3 speed.
I don't know much about cars, I'm going to go to school and take some classes while I'm there and hopefully work on my car in the shop.
I have random questions that don't always make sense seeing as how I'm learning. I'm 22, and I just started learning about my car 2 years ago off and on.
Just looking for ideas:) and I need a new exaust which someone told me we could make one... I don't know about making one.. what's the best for the car with a 2 liter 5 speed? -.0
