1" is 25mm, mine was less than that around the 15mm mark from the back of the head to the firewall. if you move it to far forward you'll have problems mounting your thermo fans i would assume

Some will sign off on 20mm, but depending on engine mounts, most get 1 inch from what ive seen

i have a maddat one
and its barely 10mm off the firewall, i had scott from maddat come out and he assured me that this is passable by engineers, ideally id prefer another 10 mm but i guess ill wait and see

My engineer told me the legal spacing between engine and any fixed part in the engine bay is 10mm.

1/2 inch is a good guide, basically if you cant stick your finger in the gap, its too close

this is something that is very clearly written in the guidelines for engineering. must have 10mm clearance to everything and no brake lines near exhaust/turbos

ok... i had a custom cross member, now im changing to maddat... struggling to get the motor in, it seems like motor will be about 10mm off the firewall....

problem is there is a solid and a flexible water line that need to go across the back of the motor, plus the 1200 heater hose exits the firewall behind the motor, all these things are 15mm thick (except the solid line but that is mounted 15mm off the motor).... 15mm hoses in a 10mm gap isn't going to happen...

so how are people getting motors in with heaters and such all hooked up?
