spoke to sanja today
he tryed to tell me that i couldnt fit
a ca18det in a 1200 coupe
the equasion for engine capacity as far as
i no is weight x 2.5 for turbo,W x 3.0 for NA
the figure he is using for weight is 700kg
and that comes to 1750cc just short
i get 725kg +34kg for factory auto shell = 759kg
or 1897cc PASS
were do they get there weight figures from ???

Vic roads technical give the vass engineers the Tare weights etc.
Did you ask him if your weighbridge weights counted or is it the published weights of the cars from original?

From my understanding they use the heaviest version of the vehicle which is the wagon I think at 731kgs. At 2.5 multiplication for a turbo that should be 1827.50ccs.
I'd be telling him to check his facts.

WTF any 1200 coupe or sedan should pass with flying colours if they take into account the deluxe models which our cars are as theres no way we would have no heater or radio :).

no they did pass with flying colors before 1st july. this is changing and enforcing tighter restirctions on engine changes.

its changing the goal posts which is allowable.

there are less old car lovers like us and more skyline/commodore/falcons blah blah blah new car modders out there. this stops a lot of their conversions too.

i see the point of new cars and emmissions, but putting a newer engine into a pre 1980 car should be no dramas. in most cases can only be an improvement.
