any tips on what goes wrong with the bonnet latch? cant get mine to pop

its definitely not the cable
ive adjusted the position of the latch on the bonnet to try to get it as central to the hole as possible

but i cant get it to pop on its own, need someone to pull it up at same time as pulling on the lever inside the car for it to unlock

so... which bit mucks up?

Try adjusting the dick that hangs down from the bonnet inside the spring.
Sometimes a wee bit of lubrication will also help
If that doesn't work hit it with a hammer.
Cheers

Yes, fresh grease helps. If it has old solidified grease that can sometimes cause it to stick.

But most likely the top piece needs to be unbolted and re-positioned as unfamilia found.

Nissan calls it the "male hood lock"
