Yes it is just as easy as any Ford or GM car. Not as easy as changing disc brake pads.

Its an easy job to do, but you do have to pay attention to a few things.Have a workshop manual with you, you can even borrow one from a library if you have to. Take some photos with a digital camera for reference when putting it back together. Avoid the dust from the old shoes, try not to breath it in. Get some brakeclean in a can & wash all the dust off before hand. This'll wash it away & make it nicer to work on. Do one side at a time, so if you get stuck you can look at the other side. The brake shoes are different, one is called the leading shoe , the other the trailing shoe. Make sure you get them correct when putting them back, because they'll wear out quickly if you get them wrong. I'm making it sound hard, but it's not. It's a good way to get experience working on the car, with the satisfaction that at the end of it all you've made the car better. & you'll have to back off the brake adjuster before putting the drums back on, or they wont fit. I use a 1/4 inch drive socket, say a 6mm or so, then put the drive side of the socket over the little square on the back of the backing plate. I then get whatever size Allen key the socket is for & use this to turn to socket. Much easier on the adjuster then a spanner or shifter(nut @#$kers).
