I'd say 1k to 2k. Would be a reasonable price.

Hey guys, just want to ask a question cause I'm not sure what my motor is worth. I've got an a12gx motor in my 1k ute and I'm about to sell the ute to a bloke for a bit cheaper so I want to sell the gx motor seperately. What are they worth. It's in really good condition, has the original exhaust manifold and runs nice. The only thing I did to it was the fuel pump needs a kit in it so I blanked the hole off and used an electric fuel pump. Anyway, let me know how much I could get for the motor and box. Thanks in advance for your advice. Cheers

His pictures are on datsun1000.com and the GX exhaust is clearly visible.

At the least it is a GX top-end so stating you have a complete GX engine is a bit far unless you can actually confirm it, you might want to confirm the head is a GX head as well, you can do this by simply removing the cover and taking a photograph. The head will have JAPAN NISSAN stamped on it.

Your best value is to split the engine, but once you split it, it will no longer be a complete unit. Great for you in making good money but a bit sad to see a fairly rare, genuine combination get separated.

Depends on where your priorities lie really. Would be great to see it go to a buyer who will look after it.

There is currently an A12GX engine for sale, a genuine engine, for US$1000.00. There are also a number of NOS A12 engines for sale for US$150 (just to give you an idea on the value of these).

Another thing is the engine block itself would be hard to get rid of once you've split it.

PLEASE keep it complete!

Good luck to whoever purchases it, would be tops in a little 1000.

Yay. I have a new engine for my thou. Now to sell all excess stuff to pave the way for an old school cruiser.

Right now I'm realizing that the haha is the fact that I'm getting ripped off. The only bit I didn't get ripped off on was the freight. I like to think that when it comes to selling things I've conducted myself really well and I've offered help to alot of people. I'll even admit when I'm wrong, but sometimes I get shafted, And this is one of those times. Here's the 'good running' engine I recieved. A broken head bolt, no washers under the head bolts (only 2) stripped threads in the head, oil pissing out the back of the head, oil soaked clutch, max sized glazed bores, soft head... And he's not admitting he sold me a dud.

Am I wrong in suggesting that I am entitled to some compensation? Seriously?
