Hi everyone. This is my first ever post and thought it maybe helpful for people contemplating the same thing. I really have no mechanical skills but from reading the forum decided to have a crack at mounting a new radiator in the ute as the old one had seen MANY better days. Anyway, have attached a couple of pics if people want to get an idea of how it looks. Cheers.

Hello and welcome.
Nice work in having a go at it mate. Looks like it fit nice in there. Did you get a pic through the grill to see how much of that core is getting cool air?

Have you any other plans??

Yeah I saw these. You really need to isolate it from the car body by rubber grommets, so it doesn't become an anode as they build up an electrocisl resistance or something and start to break done over time, all alloys do apparently but the cheaper aluminum and alloy grades do it quicker for some reason

Unfamilia beat me to it.

Usually the Gemini rad swap is a 120Y thing because of the removable section they have. Dunno whether you will be gaining anything over getting a new 1200 one unless you chop up your rad support. Make sure you make a shroud for it, makes a surprising amount of difference, lets the old mechanical fan pull the air thru instead of throwing the air everywhere.

Nah gemi rad works wonders in a 1200- I did it in ute and coupe. Kept a series cool in 40deg days easy.
Works best it you trim rad support to get air through all or most of core.
Pulsar single core works ok too. As does s13 but pulsar and s13 need more of support trimmed. Best to shroud it too- im working on this with my set up now. Can still refine it more but working well so far

Thanks all. I have some rubber 'spacers' to insert which should help. As for cutting the shroud out I am hesident to do it but can always give it a go I guess. Removing the shroud should allow it to sit another 5mm-10mm away from the fan. I'll upload a pic of the current front on view..... The engine is an A15 and being in Darwin it's bloody hot all the time so went for the biggest rad without causing to many hassels.

Re looking at your pics you removed that panel on drivers side next to shroud. Leave that out but you want to shroud back of rad. Also later on try to weld or bolt in panels to force air through rad core- sort of replacing bit you cut out and then seal up the gaps with foam- medium density closed foam . Working wonders for me.

Thanks unfamilia. That 'little panel' was already gone :(... I'll have a crack at cutting out some of the shroud and maybe welding in something to cover half of the removed panel. Have only had the little ute for a few months and finding out things as I go. You guys make life a lot easier though. Cheers.
