I am tossing up changing my SU's for ether the
Twin 45 Dcoe Weber
Twin 40 Weber DCOE/DCOM
Twin 40 DHLA Dellorto carbs.
What would be better out of all of these with a pretty wild build A15?

Don't worry about it.

Details on engine? Or even some approximate specs?

You'd be fine with any of those as your chokes are typically from 32mm up to 38mm. A DCOE/DCOM 40 with 38mm chokes will not be too different to a DCOE 45 with 38mm chokes.

45's sometime hold a better resale value but apart from that I do not think they are entirely neccessary until your cc's begin to go over the 1600 notch. You may find you will have to pay more for them but they wouldn't offer too much advantage until (maybe) late in the rev range (where you would spend less time if it were a street car).

The DCOM was intended to be the 'latest version' from Weber. All of their amendments to the carb design were already featured on the Dellorto and Mikuni equivalents.

Dellorto's are a great carb, except finding a very good set may be troublesome, they do not seem to be as robust as the Weber. It's really choice that comes down to you.

Dellortos are much cheaper and although they are arguably superior, the market does have a real passion for Webers.

30thou oversize pistons and a medium cam not sure about heads but have hopefully got a GX head that has been worked a fair bit, was going to be a speedway head but they found out they aint allowed to use it in the class and its brand new.
what would u suggest to run with? weber or a dellorto? how hard are they to tune?
i havnt had a hole lot to do with them and am trying to learn as much as possible.

They are just as hard as each other to tune. To make tuning easier and more consistent you need to invest in quality linkages.

The dellorto and Mikuni equivalents feature an external adjustment to adjust the accelerator pump delivery volume. I found these features useful.

With the Weber it is a fixed component and does require the removal and refitting of another size pump rod to adjust the accelerator pump delivery volume. Not a difficult thing to do but it isn't the quickest either.

Your budget will dictate what you'll end up with.

All I can say is if you buy a used set don't expect to not spend money on them. Many people have bought a set only to spend more money on the getting them rebuilt.

i prefer the SU for drivability but in your case if you want "nasty" the twin sidedraughts will give better top end and a throaty sound too

twin webers and dellortos are essentially the same, my main advice would be to try to buy a set off a similar engine and more particularly with the size chokes you think you will want as they are by far the most expensive part to change. 40s should be fine, 45s are likely to have too big chokes in them as they are typically used for bigger motors. if you can buy aset on manifold with linkages to suit the oval port head it will save you a lot of mucking around setting them up

i want it to be very knarly! lol so defo on the webbers, so the dellortos would be a better choice? i have hopefully picked up a set of 45s for $350 but just going to have to wait n see if they r webers or dellortos.
The only down side is there is no manifold to suit.
any suggestions there guys? and linkages.
