I have a problem with my utes 4 speed gearbox. I was driving along in fourth, coming to an intersection I changed to third, and then attempted second, but the shifter is jammed solid in third. Putting the clutch in doenst allow it to shift, but it still disengages drive. Any suggestions??????????

This probably means an internal bearing is worn and allowed enough play to jam the shifter. Best to disassemble and inspect.

Cheers, I thought this would be the case. Do you have to take the whole gearbox out or just the back section where the shifter is?

I think there is not enough room in the car to remove the rear case. You might remove it for complete inspection. But maybe you can do something with it in the car?
Probably easier to line up a replacement 4-speed and just swap it in, then inspect the old box later.

not sure about earlier 60 series boxes, but the 71 series boxes have problems with the roll pin dropping out on the shift forks which then causes the shifter to jamb. Pull it out and see what's wrong. SOrry mate!
