Getting a project started; cost?

G'day guys just wondering what sort of price range I would be looking at to get my shed ready to start a project build in; tool and equipment wise.

What equipment will I need?

What tools would I need?

Right now I have minimal tools (grinders, drills, sockets, screwdrivers :S)
(Will probably start with getting rid of rust/interior then moving to a ca18 conversion.)

Cheers.

You don't need special tools to start a project build. I did my project with a $150 engine crane and a regular garage. Just used my hand tools + a $35 handheld electric drill and a $25 bench grinder.

Yeah was thinking I could do a lot of the rust work with a grinder and a MIG

Lol I don't have a garage, all you need is screwdriver set, socket set, spanners, jack, axle stands to do most stuff, rust fixes I get by with angle grinder, portable work bench and recently a 2nd hand mig.

Other bonus tools are trolley jack, extra axle stands, brake line spanners, vice grips and adjustable wrenches.

Hah, unfamilia if I do get a project going it's all going to be done straight under my verandah... Only problem is the bottom of the verandah is 6"5' and I'm 6"4.5'. I've got most of that gear all I need now is a MIG and most of the other stuff I should be able to flog out of the old man's tool box.

The only tools i can really advise to have in your posession to make things really easy are:

- Ratchet ring end spanners
- 3/8 drive socket set with 90 teeth or more to make those tight spots nice and easy (even one with an adjustable head really helps)
- pipe end spanners
- And just make sure you have two of 12mm, 13mm, 14mm for most nuts so you can have one spanner to hold and one to undo.

Other than that dont really need much else unless you need a puller for bearing's and bushes.

But At the same time you don't need the above listed you can get away with generic tools, i just found using these were the main tools used

A few tools is the cheap bit.
Estimate out you project at least 3 times to get an exact cost of what the project will cost you.Multiply this figure by at least 2 and then you should have an idea of the true cost.
Good luck
