Just quick enquiry, finally getting everything back into the datsun and i have realised the handbrake unit itself is F*$!ed..

Now im just wanting to know whats the best way to get my hands on a new one. I have done some searching around on ebay and datsun new parts and unable to find one.

Anyone got an idea where to get one, or what will work as a suitable substitute. (i.e ford handbrake or something)

Depends on which part you need:
* Handbrake lever mechanism
* Handbrake main cable
* Handrake rear axle cables & mounts

or you could just upgrade to a hydraulic handbrake for those smooth handbrake turns into works car park haha :P
Try the classifieds, they often come up in old a series parting out and house moving sales etc.

Handbrake levers are not sold by auto parts stores, because it is not a part that requires periodic maintainence, like the handbrake cables, or engine rods and pistons.

Get it from Nissan, from Wreckers, or from Classifieds.

Compatible is any other 1200. 120Y unit looks very similiar, maybe it will interchange?
