Guys, I am looking at a few options re gearboxes for my SSS and depending on which way I swing, my c/r 56 box may be up for sale.
This box has recently been rebuilt (first gear replaced ex PJZ in the States) by Brent Buist at Palmside and is in excellent working order.
It is the box with the big, long 1st and sweat tunes can be played on it changing up from there as it is super close ( even with a 3.9 final drive )
It can be driven as still in car.
Freight to Australia can be arranged if necessary.
Cheers
Dave

Early indications are around the NZD 3-400 mark although I can get a firm price ( hopefully less ) if you want to take this further.
Cheers

hmmm I don't think so Tim. That is just his freight estimate! Those gearboxes are very hard to come by, and so pretty valuable.
I'd be keen as if i had an A12, too risky behind an A15...

Put it this way, PJZ in the States sells them for USD 2500 so that should pretty much answer your question re the $400.

Dave, FYI I have sent two 5 speeds to Australia recently through NZ post.
cost $180-230 depending on weight with packaging. absolute limit is 30kg for freight, think I had one at 28kg on MDF base, and one plastic wrapped and corrugated cardboard was nearer 25kg.
