Hi Everyone, just asking has anyone done what i want to do?? I have a ca18de with an auto box. What does everyone think? Is it going to be a big pain? how will i go about running a speedo, i know the ecu need a signal so that rules out a mechnical speedo, Yes??? Also i started connecting the loom, does the gearbox plug into a controller before the ecu, i ask because it semse im missing connectors?

Thanks Nick for remembering my thread.

Hi Hugh (looked up your profile)

The Auto needs two ECU's - one for the engine and one for the Auto (for the auto get a number 1)
as you have probably seen in my thread i took the whole loom and installed it in place of the 1200 loom

I should have got a half cut and used everything from one car, but the nature of collecting things meant that i picked up stuff (and some annoying problems) along the way

As a summary I replaced
Motor (CA18)
Gearbox (sourced separately but from a Silvia)
Loom - another s13 Silvia
Cluster Gauges (yet another S13 and ended up with two)
windscreen wiper motor
Fuel tank - needed the electric pump so went the whole hog on that (although you could modify the UTE tank and fit a modified pump)

... I actually had no intention of replacing some of that stuff - one thing led to another

Two tips.
Use a really big new transmission tunnel - not even the standard Auto tunnel is fat enough (on drivers side)
Go closer to the fire wall than I did - my setup is too far forward and does not leave much room for the thermo fan etc

If you're in Melbourne and want to see for yourself .... PM me
