My gearbox has just started making a knocking noise when Im in neutral with the clutch out when I engage the clutch it stops. Plus when im driving when i put it in third it has a knock as well but quite bad any ideas?? Thanx

sounds like it has collapsed a bearing on the end of the cluster shaft

The Cluster Shaft in inside the transmission. It spins any time engine is running and clutch is dis-engaged. Even in Nuetral, the cluster shaft is spinning.

Throwout bearing:
* Clutch engaged (pedal down), bearing is spinning
* Clutch dis-engaged (pedal up), bearing should not be spinning if the clutch cable/pedal is correctly adjusted
