As the title says I want to have a tail shaft built for my new hillclimb sedan
It will be running a 1200 ute diff, a15 with sunny 4speed.
What bits do I need to gather before I go to the tail shaft shop?
I already have the back end of the shaft flange unis yoke from bluebird.
Now I just need to know what front section to use as I would like to use fair sized unis
And I am told some a series stuff has different size unis.
Thanx Steve b

you will still need to use the a-series gearbox yoke, most drive shaft builders will drill the yoke out and fit bigger replaceable unis, you definately need stronger uni's than standard for motorsport (front and back of shaft)

my guy would charge $200 to replace uni's, make a new shaft to length to suit and balance the whole unit, he is in fern tree gully melbourne, depending on where you are you should be able to find someone to do it for around that price

Same guy quoted me $500 for same. Borg Warner diffs have factory replaceable unis usually.

Rc's guy is good though he uses ford 1tonner or Holden rodeo unis I think he said. They are cheap, strong and easily replaceable.

1200RC`s man sounds like good value.
I used A1 Balancing in Geelong, He supplied a new front yolk to suit the A series box with a larger uni. He used the Spicer brand uni`s with the nylon buttons in them(good for racing). Cost was $450 from memory. It has been perfect, and no vibrations, even at 220Kmh.
Whoever does it will also need the length from the diff flange face to the rear of the extention housing on the gearbox.

lol mik, you ask to many questions that's your problem, for example you want battery cable? yes or no? don't ask me how much just know it will be heaps cheaper than an auto shop

i rang him with a measurement and he made me a tailshaft to suit CA in 1200, he supplied new gearbox yoke and diff flange too, he rang three days later to say pick it up and it would be $330

Yep I do ask too many questions as I need to know what I'm committing to financially.

He's good but Im On tight budget-

Sikines on the ball flange to gbox housing is the only measurement they need, if you can supply flanges and shaft usually cheaper again

my guy actually asks for the end of the gearbox output shaft to diff flange... so best to be very clear with the individual tail shaft guy your dealing with
