Advice please- making heat shield maybe
Guest_
Ok looking at making a heat shield between intake manifold and extractors, to deflect heat away from intake runners.

So info I got was use 0.4 mm alloy sheet

Can I just bolt to exhaust bolts with brackets?

Silicon pipe on intake has temp range to 190deg c and I'm sure heat from extractors may be more and silicon bout 5cm from extractors

Sillycon hey no welding? Id be inclined to use a piece of cement board with alloy plate on the heat side :)
or raid neighbours old Hardi cement board from his bungalow should have enough asbestos.

Yeah think so. Braced from under from plenum to flange so if can add sheild from exhaust bolts to some part of brace or down wards leaving air only around silicone pipes

Get a bit more 1mm sheet metal from our mate in Coburg then stick some bitumen heat shielding straight to it.

Or, go to the wreckers in Broady and climb under an EA-EL Falcon. They used a lot of really good rippled heat shielding around the exhaust tunnel under the car.

The most preferable way is wait till I've got a bit of practice aluminium TIG weldinmg done and then I'll weld your runners for you!!

Your can plug weld me any day shoota.

Yeah tiging is an option long term but I don't know how it's going to run with longer runners so silicon seems logical first off. See how it comes back.

Lethal what's this sheet stuff? Or broadly stuff seems will be fine too. Just need to work out how to attach.
