I bought a ca22 but need to confirm it, it's ment to have a ca20 crank and oversized pistons in a ca18det block!
Any help/ideas please

ca20 crank will have a smaller (compared to ca18) front pulley hole. The front of the crank is about 5-6mm smaller in diameter where the front crank pulley pushes on.

When you pull the head off, it's easy to measure stroke and diameter.

If it turns out to be lies. Then the offending parts should be inserted without lube, into the tail pipe of the seller.

should be closer to 180 for a ca18det. Don't get too depressed just yet. Measure it up and see.
If it's got some good parts, you could still part the motor out for a fair bit of cash.

Sorry to hear that mate

Supafatto, maybe try and post up wrecking exa ads on gumtree or exa forums and hopefully get some or most of your cash back mate.
and if not interested in engine, maybe sell off parts.rocker cover, manifolds etc

and No offence meant but ca22det is just a myth unless proven otherwise.

There was never a factory-produced twin-cam CA 2.0L motor, nor a turbo version. However the blocks are similar, and it is possible to fit the DOHC CA18DE/T twincam head to the SOHC CA20 block. However the DOHC/SOHC manifolds are different and the timing pulley/belts are not compatible. Despite this, CA20DET turbos have been built. The cheaper alternative to a CA20DET is a newer SR20DET. Parts for the SR20 are less expensive and more readily available. Tomei and JUN of Japan produced 2 litre stroker kits for the CA18. A company called Norris Designs produces a CA20 stroker kit as well as a CA20 engine.

quote form wiki suggesting pulley/belts from ca20 not compatible?
