ive just recently bought a datsun cherry f10 A120 with an A12 engine with a 4 speed gearbo and im looking forward to modify it, im thinking in swapping the A12 for another engine maybe a rotary mazda engine such as 13B REW or maybe a toyota 4A series engine, but to be honest i would prefer it to keep it within the nissan line of engine ,aybe a KA24 or the GA14 or GA16 or SR2O which ARE the most easy engines i could get here in my country, basicly what i want is to find an engine with an 5speed gearbox to fit in and also the radiator it would need and any other modification required to make it work with the engine you propose, thanks, the cost that it would have doesnt matter unless it becomes excesive, please dont meassure yourselves because there are no regulations nor limits for this in my country so size or aspiration arent any trouble

can you get the cg13de or CR14DE? Personally I like the GA16DE heaps of aftermarket stuff for cheap and modern narrow valve head has good potential. http://www.automotiveforums.com/t4189 ... de_parts_list_needed.htmlAsk wombatracing what he thinks he owns Australias supply of Cherries

it is imposible to get a cg13DE or a CR14DE, and even if i could the cost of it would be higher than getting a KA24 or a GA16 or the GA16 or the SR20 and having it already tuned up the engine, this datsun cherry is my project for life so i'd like a modern engine but also tuneable with a good performance, just a quest what modifications would be required to fit the GA16 with its gearbox withing the datsun? keep in mind that my datsun is manual not automatic, and any cut and shut of the transmition i wont do it because there is no one experienced enough in my country so i could risk to do it, i know this for sure because of the tuning clubs im enrolled with but ive never tuned a datsun before but its my project

the ga16 is very compact but will need custom mounting however you get all the goodies. I couldnt help with FWD info but you probably should find a cherry club in finland where quite a few race them and maybe some ga16de forums for other info. A good A series is also a good thing with a 5 speed box from an A series 80-82 pulsar/cherry etc.

yes A series are good but in my country people has forgotten about datsun's value as a tune up and racing car just because of the hondas with vtec so an A engine or an A gearbox isnt up to the challenge, so im looking for a tuneable engine with a great gearbox, and anyways the 80s pulsar isnt found easily here, im the only one who owns a datsun cherry in my country atleast the only one registered or that what traffic info says coming from a friend who is a cop, anyways if you can facilitate me a way to contact that finland cherry club you'd help me a lot, im a sucker for datsuns and i'd like to prove that it still has its pride as a decent line of cars and that are tuneable without being rich

thanks, anyways its the same as the UK cherrys club im already in, almost, well anyways do you have any other engine in mind? as long as it comes to tunel modifications to fit the gearbox theres no problem, atleast that, any other sugguestion for an engine that will make the cherry lose balance and its proper suspension

The Finland club has done these kind of engine swaps as I remember.
We do not know much about FWD Datsuns here at datsun1200.com

I have owned an A14 N10 Pulsar before and if I still had it I would investigate putting a complete GA16DE and gearbox in from an N14 Pulsar. I have 1 of these engines in a Club Sport car and even standard it is a lot of fun. Find 1 and take some measurements. If this is your life long car then a GA or an SR18/20 is a good choice but use their gearboxes also.
