I got this A12 i bought from D on hear. I asked him what to do next i would like to finsh rebulding it.
It has been board out 2.5mm and has mitsu flat top pistons with it and npr chrome rings and new berings as well.
What i wanted before i got this Block only.
My Plan was just to have a bit faster A12 or A14 that sounded nice maby a bit lumpy.
SO what i would like to know is what are my option,s with this block How much power could i get out this motor and what would i need to do to it? And i allso have a A14 ass well For parts if needed ???????????????????

An A12 bored out 2.5 mm = 1254 cc.

It can easily make more power than a stock A14.

Fit a lumpy cam (call Camtech or some other vendor for their recommendation). This results in less power at low RPMs, but more at high RPMs. But mainly you get that lumpy sound.

To go with the cam, fit a Weber 32/36 or twin weber 40s. And a GX manifold or tubular extractor/header with 1.75 inch exhaust system. Add dual valve springs so you can safely rev it above 6400 RPM.

For the head, use a slightly ported A14 head (pocket port & port match). Closed chamber H89 makes good power above 4000 RPM. Modify the head to suit the A12 block. Or use a stock A12GX head, which makes more power above 5000 RPM.

If you are on a budget, just get the camshaft, and use stock everything else (A12 head, exhaust, stock carb, etc.) and you will still get that lumpy sound.

Yes the 2.8 Datsun motors can make over 400 HP if done up very clever.

Just need the top end for an affordable fast setup
eg.
cheap t25, single su,
standard A14 exhaust mani
with banana turbo extension,
stock A14 head & inlet manifold
locked dizzie & tune for 90-100hp atw

Otherwise get an early L16 carb rejet
with gx camshaft on A14 head, mani and
extractors with e. dizzie.

i just built my A12, slightly worked but just nice.
I also brought a block and crank from D however i think this one was only like 1mm overbore? Not sure.
i put a new pair of flat tops in it.
Lightned Flywheel
Had everything balanced, (crank, rods and pistons.)
Put an H89 head on with double valve springs, slight porting and i also had it shaved.
i had a custom ground 240Wade cam, only slightly bigger, smooth fast idle picks up around 2500. This also included refacing the lifters.
I fitted a single sidedraft 45DCOE weber thats been rejetted, choked down and i also did the needle and seat.
All up the engine is beautiful, very nice and torquey exactly what i wanted. Just a nice daily driver.
Although i thought it was going to cost me nothing ended up costing me a little more than what i thought, but every cent was worth this engine.
I have a 140 Wade cam too, which is very lumpy let me know if you're interested.
Good luck building it!
Cheers
