hi i got a gt40r coil from a datsun 1200 and put it in my 120y it had the stock coil it drives well but the gauge jumps from 4000rpm to 8000rpm then back.
it was normal with my old coil i still have the ballast resitor.
what can it be?

Does this only happen when the engine is at 4000 RPM?
A common problem is a dirty or loose connection at the coil. You might want to scrape/sand the wire terminals to get bright metal.

ok thanks it does have build up on it just put it on quickly will give it a clean and see.
