Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum. Love all the information that is available on here! Great resource.

I've just got myself a 1200 sedan as a small project. Noticed some rust around the mount for the lower suspension arm. Any ideas on how much of a mission this will be to fix? Or get fixed rather?

Thanks

That has already been fixed once. The tension rod mount is not stock.

The way my panel beater fixed it was to cut out all rusty parts, and replace with new sheet metal. Custom made and welded on.

Mate, suggest you don't drive that. The "repair" is unsafe and will most likely break at the right angle of the section when you apply the brakes sometime. It's not a matter of if but when. Like DD says get someone who knows what they are doing to cut off the plate the tension rod goes through and weld on an OK original part taken from a wrecked car. Have a good look around the rest of the car while you're at it.

Thanks for the info guys. I got in touch with a specialist who recommended a complete rebuild of the suspension so its back to original. So going to go ahead with that ASAP.

Just a quick update on my 1200 sedan project...here is the chassis/suspension post repair. Hopefully will be posting more soon about the progress. Managed to pick up a second A15 motor, that came with an H89 and GX head, two cams, two cranks and a whole bunch of other odds and ends.

Congrats on the parts.

Thanks mate...picked it all up for basically nothing too. Included in the lot were two 40 sidedraft Webers which I'm quite excited about fitting.
