Start by getting the car up on jack stands, so you can see what is going on.

First step is the clutch disengaging?.....does the clutch fork move back when you depress the clutch................I actually had one stick on a Volvo rally car..........thought the clutch was gone but it wasn't............bunch of dirt packed up the bell housing.

Next step put it in gear while the car is off the ground...............if the wheels spin it's the clutch is likely done, with no load you can gently accelerate to see if the wheels spin a little faster..........no need to go faster than 10 mph on the speedo.

Then work back through the drive train but if somrthin in the tranny or rear end were broken it would likely make nasty noises.

Also make sure the car really is in gear, with the car off the ground and the motor off you work the wheels back and forth then try put it in gear.

Tom

I had Same problems a while back.1200 was in the body shop for a month When time to move no gear selecting,Jacked up the back and tried to accelerate no spining of the wheels.

Turned out notting happed to the box we had to take it down.

When we took it out the clutch disc was stuck to the flywheel due to moisture in the garage.

We sanded the disc a bit then put it back together, everything worked fine afterthat.

Hope this helped,Cheers Darren

So the clutch is new, huh? Hmmm...
Was the face of the pressure plate cleaned before it was fitted? It's been a while since I was on the tools, but from memory the pressure plate face is greased by the manufacturer to prevent corrosion. If it wasn't cleaned, it would have contaminated the clutch plate. You can try getting the contaminants out by dousing it with methylated spirits and setting it alight (the heat shiuld draw the contaminates out), but it's not guaranteed to get it all out and should be done under VERY controlled circumstances!

Also, was the flywheel machined beforehand? What about the rear main oil seal? Unless the seal was replaced (or is sealing well), you might as well replace it while you're there.

Good luck today and remember to keep the prop shaft in the back of the 'box!
