early vs late model mechanical fuel pumps

My fuel pump seems to be pissing out oil everywhere, the only place i can spot where its coming from is what looks like the two balls at either side (on the outside) connecting the arm that sits on cam shaft.

I have pulled it apart, all looks good. Except the balls, they look to be sitting a little more inward than another pump i have.

What i want to know is if i try putting the other fuel pump onto my late model a12 block and if its and early model fuel pump, am i going to damage anything?

All help welcome, need to get this sorted asap!
Cheers
Ed

yeah probably, later ones have a shorter arm, if you put the early one in it's likely to break the arm and then you will have to go searching for it in the bottom of your sump

i once made 1 pump that'd work out of 2 that i had, swapping the longer arm for the shorter or vise versa
it was a while ago so i cant remember exactly what i did but i do know thats is possible,

not sure if that helps you at all though

Thanks RC.
Yeah ANGE i had a rough look and a thought of doing that. I cant fiqure out how to remove the leaver/tongue itself but you can just unscrew the bottom and swap it over.
I needed to pull the leaver off and swap it with other because it was the little balls at either end connecting the leaver that were pissing oil out of.
Either way found another pump and she's all going again, just have to hope this one doesnt leak oil!!
