So I have had multiple experts out to tune the a12 and none have been able to do it correctly. All it has is a lumpy cam, is it just not many people know about older cars or something else?

Many reasons:
* not many younger people know about older cars
* Some professionals are not experts
* Some experts are not proffesional
* Some do not understand lumpy cams

What sort of problems is it having?

Pointless without knowing carbs set up can specs motor and specs if possible. Ignition system (points or elec)

A lot of newer mechanics can't do carbs. Old school ones are best but they go by ear etc and optimal power may not be achieved.

If its lumpy Cam with points and stock carb.... Its always going to run like crap imho

"All it has is a lumpy cam"

Define lumpy;

.480 lift 300 duration..................full race cam that does NOTHING below 5000 RPMs

The cam in my A12 is .460 valve lift and 282 duration and you have to slip the clutch just to get it loaded on the car trailer, not happy below 4K...............it idles OK.

What carb(s) are you running?

Also if you are the slightest bit handy with tools, pop the valve cover and measure how much lift is there (if you don't have the cam spec. Also by marking the crank pulley with a yellow grease pen in 45 degree increments you can get a rough estimate of when the valves open and close.

No amount of tuning will get the car to run well if you have a race cam and stock carb or DGEV type carb.

Here iare some tuning samples with only a cam change: GX cam .331 lift 256 duration. FCR flat slide carbs 155 mains and 55 pilot with needle raised full rich...........change to cam with .460 lift 282 duration (no other change) 165 mains needles lowered two clips (leaner) and all the way down to 45 pilot jets.

The motor needed more fuel at larger throttle opening but due to 104 lobe center, at low throttle low RPM the motor was now waaay fat hence leaner on pilot jets.

Again if you can give us cam spec we can probably tell you if it's truly the mechanic or if there is a mismatch tuning it will be a comprimise. You are probably aware, cam, carb, head, exhaust need to be a matched set...........this why tuners are always nagging about not doing all the mods at once.

i found out the jets are way to small for the carb, i know for a fact that the lift is stock set at .025 because i set it straight after rebuild, lift at the cam is .289 and at the valves it is .433, not sure on duration. the part number for the cam is 609B-108 if that helps in any way?, it has the stock carbie on it , the timing is out due to the cam

What kind of carburetor is it?

.025 mm is a valve lash setting used by stock and some competition cams.

Stock A12 cam has 0.315 inch lift

It might be a Camtech 609 grind, with is .433 lift exhaust, .430 intake.

See Camshaft Timing

RPM RANGE 3200-7200
Rough idle, strong ,mid range and top end. Recommended for modified engines. Min 9.5:1 comp ratio.

Why bother? The stock A12 carburetor will severly restrict the power from 6000 to 7200 RPM, where the Camtech 609 likes to run. Even a Weber 32/36 would be better.
