Hey gang!

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I'd like to hear what some of you have for seats in your Datto's.....

Mine came with Corbeau's when I bought it, and they are just about the most uncomfortable thing I've ever sat in!! I found a pair of seats at a wrecking yard from and Isuzu Trooper, and I think the bolt pattern and spacing is similar....

Subarus, Honda's etc....I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have.

Thanks in advance!

Greg

I put Thunderbird Turbo Coupe seats in mine, around 1988 model (I think this is the same/similar as Mustang GT seats)... they were great, with adjustable side and front bolsters and a air inflation for the lumbar. The seats have an extension bolted to the seat for the center console armrest, but this is simply unbolted to fit into the Datsun.

These seats have a flat bottom, so it's easy to adapt. I just used two 1/8" thick plates: one bolted to the seat across the front holes, and the second across the back holes. To this, I drilled holes for the stock datsun seat bracket/adjuster thing. After bolting to the Datsun seat rails to that, it bolted right in.

Some people like Honda seats, they have a lot of lumbar. The 1200 floor seat area has a good fit to adapt other seats to it.

The main thing to watch out for is that the seat you're looking at isn't too wide. I had a leather seat out of a Honda Accord which fitted the the bolt pattern perfectly but the seatbelt inertia reel got in the way. Perhaps a good alternative would be a Prelude seat they're quite low slung but very comfortable.

hey i got turbocoupe seats as well LOL. they came out of the wreck that was left after my car fire but yes they are a VERY comfortable seat IMHO. i at first thought that they would be too wode at the bottom for the datto but to my suprise they are actually too narrow by a few inches. i thought i could get away wiht just using the seat rails and attacing it to the bottom of the seats but found that that would quite work . i need to fab a seot of mounting plates for them to work properly but like i sadi very comfy and they grip you in the right places as wel as being really adjustable.

ddgonzal: do you have the inflatable lumbar hooked up? did you just have to wire a DPDT switch, power, and ground to have it function right?

Sweet!

Thanks for the tips. I will now start scouring the wrecking yards!!

Anything has to be better than what I've got!! Even the smallest crack in the road will feel like a punch to the kidneys!!

Thanks gang!

hehe, I never did hook up the lumbar control ... If I recall mine had an air system ... but I agree they were VERY comfortable, and hold the driver in place just right during hard cornering.

i was just kinda curious since when i took the seat out of the turbocoupe i noticed it didn't actually have any airlines coming outo fthe seat so i figure the air pump is actaully inside the seat somewhere. all i found was the positiv and negative wires hanging from the middle of the seat bottom. i was thinking about trying to hook it up to a DPDT switch so i can inflate it and deflate it but i need to now if it needs aballast resistor or anything like that. i would really rather not start a fire under my own butt if possible.

Sounds cool!

Are you going to go for the "Fast and the Furious" look?

Speaking of that...does anybody out there have a NOS system hooked up to a Datto?

I would LOVE to take a look at that!!

don't you mean "the fake & the fatuous".knew someone with nitrous on their 1200 sedan with an a15,couldn't work out why it went slower when they hit the button.turned out they had used up all the nitrous on the way to the track.the car used the horn button to activate the gas,on a dpdt switch, but i've always thought a kickdown switch from an auto would be the way to get it flowing.
