hey guys,

if clusters are from the same vehicle i.e from a 1200, but one in kph and the other in mph, is the difference in the "back" unit of the clusters/tachos that reads/processes the speed from diff, gearbox?

i.e if you were to use an kph cluster one from a jdm model in an australian delivered mph vehicle , would you need to install anything else to "translate/convert" the speed or will cluster do it by itself? and anyone done so already?

thanks

The difference is in the speedometer unit only. The rest of the cluster, cable, transmission is the same.

thanks dd
so in other words no converter needed if swapping whole cluster.Im assuming i would still have to get it calibrated.

if i was to make templates of the 180kmh speedometer dials, clusters with mph clusters would need a converter to install the template?

cheers

Speedo unit is the same afik the only difference is the face plate. I had a kmh one that had miles printed below the plastic trim edge. A mph one I had had kmh printed in same spot

Factory but they are all sedan dashes not coupe round ones. Will get a pic for you if I have it still.

I had one ages ago that was stuck on, was a dealer option when we metric and the rest of the backwards people stayed in mph

The only difference is where the speedo needle is pointing. JDM delivered dials are in KPH. The 160 and 180 KPH do differ as the needle sweep is the same but indicate different speeds [obviously]. Worth checking the tooth count in the back of the speedo.
