air filter housing on carb help please

Hey I just grabbed a air filter housing off someone on this site but I can't figure out why it won't fit my carb..the stud doesn't make it through the hole to put the wing nut on ? Any ideas on what I could do .... Thanks for any help

Which air filer housing?

The stud of a stock 1200 carb fits all the way through a stock air cleaner.

Has the stud been cut down on your carb hat rod? If so just get the right threaded but of threaded rod from any hardware shop
