Depending on the diff condition, the H165 should be fine for a non turbo CA.
With any diff, you treat them like dirt and they will probably break.

H165 is absolutely the right size behind CA18DE. Nissan put it behind 2-liter engines. The next size down, the H150 was never put behind anything larger than 1.5 liter.

The H165 is a Hitachi 165mm CRP differential.

It is used in the 1200 ute, among other Nissan vehicles.

Yeah my old CA18DE 1200 wagon had a H165 it was fine in the time i had it and i gave it a boot full a few times. Think it should be said that the H165 ute diff came out in post 1974 model utes. Earlier models just had the old H145 diff.

We used to think so, but now it is known that all utes came from the factory with the H165.

My bad but i have looked at utes here for sale that have clearly got H145's in them and they just happen to be early models. But that could mean quite a few things pretty rare to find them in factory condition these days even hard to get one with an A12 anymore.
