Booster not needed, get 11/16 for soft pedal but 13/16 or 7/8 would be better and firmer with rear disks.

You can usually get them on Ebay in 13/16ths or 7/8ths. If you can't find the size you need, then contact some of the sellers, they might be able to help. I'd find out what size master cylinder the 280zx uses, then buy one of that size to suit the 280zx. As the 280zx usually run rear discs, the rear brakes shouldn't drag like it would if you used a rear drum master cylinder.

280ZX uses 15/16" master cylinder.

B310 uses 13/16" master cylinder. Remove the Residual Valve for use with rear discs.

When swapping master cylinders, you likely will need to mod the firewall for a new bolt-pattern and adjust the pushrod to the correct length.

260Z uses a 7/8" master cylinder here in North America. So does 240Z and 280Z.

so 260z should bolt to the firewal? just had a quick look around and cand seem to find one that has a push rod, can i just put one in? im guessing they all ran with boosters? would a 7/8 or 13/16 master coupled with a 120y booster a good match? i dont want a rock solid pedal but a firmish prefered

yes ,just check your rod lenght when you bolt it up to make sure its not pushing in the piston

I've just put a 7/8 in both my 1600 and 1200 (both unboosted). both of them obviously came with no rod as they are from a boosted car. Depending on the brake rod will depend how easy it is.

Both the master cylinders had a circlip which held in a washer, this needs to be undone and this washer needs to go on the end of your 1200 brake rod, this then goes back into the master cylinder and the clip goes back on. For my 1600 I had no worries as i had an adjustable rod which i could simply spin off and slide the washer on. On my 1200 I had to grind a slit in the washer to be able to get it on the rod.

I am running standard drums/dics on the 1200 and its actually not as bad as I thought with the 7/8. If you had brakes which took more fluid to move you'd be fine.
