hi,
failed a rwc due to not working reverse lights....didnt check b4 i took it in.
looks like the previous owner (who converted the ute to an l20 with stumpy gearbox) failed to bother with them.
So just wondering what others who may have done this conversion have done. after checking wiki i could only find an idea to mount a switch activated by the gearstick.

any help much appreciated...

The rear switch in the tunnel should be the rev switch in the box . Otherwise the lever is the only other way. Levy gangbang style,

If the switch is there with the connections yes it is put up some pics of under the car in the tunnel. Can shed further light then.

If that's all they you it you for on roady, that's good

Im having the same problem, my transmission has the reverse switch and it has the pigtails but after reviewing the wiring diagrams I still do not know where to wire the pigtails to.

If anyone knows any other information please let me know.

Get a wiring diagram from the manual. Also if you look at the fuse box you will notice a fuse for reverse lights. 10 amp

The reverse switch pigtails connect to the stock 1200 wiring harness pigtails. If you swap in a different transmission, just use the stock wiring harness.

I have noticed the reverse light fuse and replaced it, but I still have not located the harness pigtails. But ill just test some of the possible lose wires with a voltage meter.

Look for 2 bullet style female connectors on the end of a long black tape wrapped section. Usually comes out of the loom near the battery & runs over the stsrter motor & down the transmission tunnel on the gearbox. The wire could be rolled up into a ball & hidden away, or maybe the previous owners been a fool & cut them off. Hopefully the first.
Remember you're looking for female bullets, not spade connections, & they'll have a plasticy cover on them to stop shorting when they're in use.
Another way around this problem which I have done is get a small illuminated switch & mount it in the choke cable hole. you need reversing lights, click the switch on, the lights come on, you don't need them anymore, click the switch again & the lights go out. The illuminated switch is to remind you when they're on. Just extend the wires into the passenger cabin through one of the grommets. Works well when you need both hands on the wheel while reversing, so can't use a momentary contact switch.
