Hi guys i am looking for some oppinions to help me decide

nothing beats a new front glass in a resto but i hate the ugly sunstrip on new windscreens so my question is new glass or polish the original?

the original has some small wiper scratches will cost about $100 to remove
I can get a brand new glass for $110 so what to do?

Original 1200 glass from 1972 had a sunstrip along the top ... optional. There were five different front glass.

Older cars had toughened glass and shattered in a million pieces when hit by a rock. New glass now is laminated and will just crack. I'd definitely go for new.

Do you guys know why alot (if not all) car insurance offer optional windscreen replacement every year? it's because new glass is thinner and cracks if you so much as look at it funny. If you can deal with that get new glass, if not then stick with the Datto tough glass.

Datsun 1200 came originally with Laminated glass as an option -- or was standard fitment in some markets.

1200 glass OPTIONS:
* toughened (shattering glass)
* laminated (non-shatter)
* tinted
* sunstrip
* extra thick

Today's glass is extra-thin in most cases. New glass is not always better.

I've had sunnys where the front screen goes kinda gasoline rainbowy.
I'd rock a new screen in a heartbeat. Laminated FTW. I still have 1200 coupe windscreen in my head from a head vs windscreen incident back in 1997.
