So.... I have a Ca18det in my ute. I dont want to have the battery in the tray on the outside... so I was think maybe putting the battery on the inside of the tray behing the cover on the left side.

The battery is 250x97x156 so I would assume that there is plenty of room behind that panel to make something up to suit :) or possible to fit somewhere in engine bay :)

Anyone else had expieience with these batteries? I know they are fairly expensive at $350-400 mark but I would rather pay more and have it hidden away a bit better.

I have an ER40 and am planning on mounting it under the tray behind the cab. I don't have a tray floor in at the moment so it will make it easy to weld in some brackets.

Odyssey PC680MJT is 1/2 the price, less weight, and slightly smaller, yet starts a 1200 no problems.

Unless you are running a large displacment high compression engine, there is no way you need 450 CCA. We used to use 375s with large V8s.

For a few different models of small batteries, see Battery.

lithium is your answer, smallest form factor and relatively cheap compared to acid

Pc680 is the go. They are used on bmw motorbikes. Particularly for low compression det engine.
Look into the non-odyssey brands to get the best price.
