Hi i have a rebuilt A 15 that i have now put it It has pulley fan plus iv'e installed a new electric fan yesterday.i don't know if the engine has tight valves,It traffic it goes up past half then when i start to drive again it goes a little way down If any 1 knows problems that will cause that ?

You may need larger radiator but are you sure the electric fan blades are pushing or pulling air the correct way

Or disconnect the electric fan. The stock engine-driven fan is plenty powerful enough for an A15.

Yes fan blades spin in the right direction.
I Dont think the electric fan is the prob i'm running electric fan plus engine-driven fan it has a thermo onto it too.if i remove the electric fan it might even work better?i'm leaning toward a larger radiator.

#1 Collant will it keep temp down?
#2 Tight valves?
#3 Where should the temperature gauge should be for a new fitted a15?

Coolant does not keep the temps down. Coolant (instead of plain water) prevents it from freezing and prevents corrosion.

Tight valves do not cause overheating. But they can cause the engine to die. After changing the head gasket, adjust the valves before driving it!

Where should the temperature gauge should be for a new fitted a15? In the dashboard or under the dash is the usual place. The temperature sender should go in the stock location, although it can also be fitted to the front or back of the cylinder head ( it should go into the cylinder head). Don't fit the sender to the radiator hoses, as you want to measure the engine temp, instead of the radiator temp. The radiator temp will go up and down as it is NOT regulated by the engine thermostat.

The factory mechanical fan is better than any thermo fan.
Mount the electric fan on the front and reinstall the factory fan.
If than doesnt work, get the radiator 'rodded' and professionally flushed.

Correctly designed and installed electric fans work better than engine driven fans in engine cooling and A/C performance.
and im referring to "Proper" electric fans not cheap fans or copies.The cheap ones won't cool the car in summer.

i also installed an electric fan and got rid of the mechanical fan two weeks ago.Car runs very well and no overheating issues.engine bay is considerably quiet as fan only goes on when temps goes 85 and turns off when under 80.

Thermo switch was installed on bottom part of radiator (like most oem thermoswitches) where the tap to release the water was.

I also put on a new water pump and thermostat.Maybe check if ur water pump is in good condition.

Is ur fan running a fuse?its a gud idea to run one to avoid wiring harness getting hot if ever the fan didn't work correctly.

and did u get the radiator flushed while installing the thermo switch?

and as stated by unfamilia, confirm air is going in right direction.my fan can run both ways but what dictates the direction of airflow is how you do the wiring.

I also went thru ur build.awesome work.i noticed u used zip ties.id recommend "padding" the fan so when it moves it doesn't damage the radiator fins.i also used bolts but again they have "padded" washers.This also let me install the fan and radiator as one unit even though i had to modify the front abit.il post some pics wen i get on my comp at home.

Nothing to do with cooling, but also try to add a couple neutral wires from the negative terminal of battery to different engine parts.i.e one to the alternator bolt. and if you can, get the neutral wire ones from german made cars as opposed to jap cars.It improves how the engine performs.

Hi Guys

If the things are on order and the radiator is good i don't think so you will need a electric fan, I run A12A on my B310 with AC without electric fan on,Rarely on a heavy traffic electric fan comes on for few minutes

Cheers guys i'll have a look at the electric fan i will turn the blade around so it will pull the hot air away from the radiator.I dont kno maybe the electric fan might be blocking the amount of air flow towards the radiator have a look at it.

hey darren,

the fan blocking the radiator cant be it as mine is in similar position.
Below is a pic of the switch im using.

According to the pic of ur switch i wonder if the switch is "in" enough.have a look where mine sits flush when tightened.in ur pic, there is an added black piece between switch and radiator hence question how long the threaded part in ur switch is.
Just a thought
