I have sold the "rumpety rumpety" cam and the header that I built for the Chickenhawk. Not to worry, I have a VG-33 V6 on the floor in front of the car ready to go in.
Sunday I swapped a stock cam back into the engine. (Lost a little blood into the oil and conversly some oil to my blood, but that's another story. And nowhere as amoosing.) After fighting to get the gear back on (this was when the bloodletting ocurred) without losing timing, I bolted the rockers and valve cover back on.
I decided at this point it would probably be a good idea to see if the thing would run and make sure the timing hadn't slipped a tooth. I got in, and hit the starter. Instead of hearing the "runh runh runh" of high compression, I heard the "wheeeeeee" of NO compression.
So now I'm thinking the starter solenoid must have packed in because Ive done nothing to alter the compression. I crank her again while watching the water pump belt, everything spins as it is supposed to.
I'm stumped until something in the back of my mind says "Hey, stupid! Re-adjust the valves!"
I go back in and sure enough, not a single valve is closed. The all have like negative .050" gap. I adjust most of them correctly but get tired near the back and "eyeball" them. (I'll re-do it when the time comes, relax.)
Button it up and get back in the cockpit. "Runh runh vroooom!"
I had forgotten just how rough the other cam was until the stock one fired. Smooth as a baby's butt.
After that, I fought for a while taking the header off. Not much of a story there but some choice cussin' while doing it. I'll post a picture of the header after while. Ok, tensandtwenties will probably post it for me.
That's about all I have to say. Everyone have a day.

Ya gotta be careful with that "smooth as a baby's butt" comment, especially now that you're on the list of suspected pedophiles with the Texas law enforcement community..........

Olboy, I have been running the stock Z-20 manifold with a Weber 38/38 synchronous downdraft. Ran like a scalded dog! I had the opportunity to swap on a set of side drafts but was far too lazy to take that on. The guy who bought the header also bought those and is planning to use them.
Guacomobile, I was wondering why that van was parked outside my house!

Olboy, that would be my bad. I just re-read my post and realized I never said that the car had a Z-20. I just assumed that, since the world revolves around me, everyone would remember what my car has in it.
Sorry for the confusion.
