as mentioned in the 'where to start' thread, I have an electronic dizzy I need a wiring diagram for. I assume it is out of a b210 or maybe even 310.. all I know is i bought it off some guy who had it in a 1200 ute.
basically all it is is a hall effect sensor and a shutter which goes in place of the points. and a ignition module which hooks up somewhere.. even if there is a diagram for a L series dizzy it is probably the same thing..
anyone?

Tom.

tom,are you just wanting to know where the two wires coming from the ignitor module goes.if you do,they go to the positive & negative side of the coil.this is assuming it's an n12 pulsar distributor.check the side of the unit,it should have a serial number, could you tell me what it says,& i'll check it against the electronic dizzy i have here.if i can remember correctly, the black wire goes to the positive side & the wire with the trace goes to the negative side.will check back tomorrow for you.

no , it is definitely an original A series setup. It has a sensor which sits where the points normally sit and a hat that replaces the rotor button. there is a 3 pin plug which comes off the sensor. and then the module is a big chunky 4 x 3 inch box with fins and a 6 pin plug coming off that. if only I bloody noted the way the dude had it hooked up!

Hmmm... my stock Nissan A-series electronic distributor doesn't have a separate module -- just the distributor, coil and wires. The module is inside the distributor housing. Sort of like GM HEI, but smaller. If I recall correctly it is from a '78 B210 (120Y).

think i've got it sussed..
black, green and red go to the same on the dizzy lead. other black goes to ground , white with black stripe goes to - lead on coil and plain white wire goes to + on coil. when I get some money to buy some connectors I will try it.

can anyone remember if the external ignitor model uses a ballast resistor for the coil?
also, if anyone finds one of the built in ignitor models , save it for me, this aussie buy!

Any time you switch to an electronic ignition you MUST disconnect or bypass the ballast resistor. Also, it's a good idea to switch to the EI coil from the same car as I've heard of stock coils burning out from the extra power of the EI. HTH
