Car wont run. Ignition problems?

I have an 1973 Datsun 1200 A12. The only way it would run if i hold it in the START position (continuously cranking) and give it some gas. Do i have a bad ignition switch??? HEEEEELLLPPPP

* bad ignition switch

Or

* bad ballast resistor

Or

* incorrectly wired coil & resistor

The latter is most common, and costs nothing to fix
So check it out.

The old ignition in 1200 can be turned to far and wear's out.If u have the one with out steering lock only turn till motor start to turn or u will have to buy new.
