Repro front guards - good quality or not?

Hi everyone, its been ages since logging on here. I've still been pottering away on my 1200, the next step for me I think is a pair of new front guards - mine are a little battered and bruised. I'm wondering if anyone has bought a pair of the cheap reproduction ones from ebay... they are very well priced, I'm just wondering if the quality of the fitment is woeful or not. Any first hand accounts would be sweet. Would I be better of chasing some originals, or for the money just deal with the repros? They have to be the right shape, and align easily.

Thanks

I had a good run with them.... Some need slight massage but not like you have to cut it and weld etc... Mainly the bolt hole in near the hinge that needed adjustment.. Easy enough though.. They are good value for money for peace of mind that you won't have to spend hours upon hours of sanding welding and repairing an old guard. I figure under $100 a guard is well worth it... Or if you like spending hours upon hours fixing up old guards then go for gold

Ive seen good and bad but most need new holes drilled to meet standard mountong points and also its thin metal, they bend easily if you lean on them if working on car

some repro front guards are missing the lip on top of the guard that closes the gap to the bonnet. so you end up with a larger
gap between bonnet and guard exposing the guard mounting bolts.

if your fussy like that it might be something to consider

If you are going for a high quality build and don't want the hassle of panel beating old guards, you can buy brand new guards from Nissan for 350 a side, abit more pricey but heaps thicker then aftermarket and a much better fit

Cheers everyone, I'm going to try out the cheaper option and see how it goes. Drilling mounting holes is easy enough, I'll try not to lean on them too much either haha
