Hey guys, yet again something has happened to my datto and i need help.
Back story: Had to get out of traffic quickly, chucked it into reverse and put the foot down, turned into a driveway and as i put it in 1st, it starts spluttering and not taking off, i pull over and the car dies. I crank it over and it runs for about 10 seconds then dies. Crank it again and only stays on for 5 seconds.
I pop the hood while its running for a bit and it stays running, as i go to close the hood the engine starts to die then when i raise the hood it starts to run good again, weird i know. I had a look at some of the wires on top of the firewall to see if they are getting caught, some of the wires connected to the box at the top of the firewall that has the wiring harness run through it and im assuming some wires connected to the dizzy, were getting knocked around.
I run it again and all of a sudden a puff of smoke comes out of the carburetor and the car now wont run for a second. It cranks and fires up but then dies as if it was a charging problem. The alternator was fine, all the fuses were good and i couldnt find any burnt wiring.
Would love some insight to this from anyone, cheers guys

First make the easy check. Is the fuel level on the dot in the sight glass? Remove the air cleaner lid. Is the choke straight up and down?
