hey guys i was wondering what is the biggest brake conversion you can do sensibly on a 1200. they have to be able to fit under 13s or possibly 14s. including every thing, master cylinder, booster, disks and calipers. i want to stop on a dime. right now im runing stanzers on the front (255mm) and stock on the back. Which is ok but i want my eyeballs to hurt everytime i stop.
cheers
Quinn

If you pull out the reaction disk (If your brakes are boosted) then you'll have your front brakes on fire almost and some of your facial features may become detached...

But this isn't a sensible suggestion.

It's all to do with 'what is available in your area' As we aren't talking about 2002 model cars

The only way to really test them is for us to get several known (should be good) conversions and put them to the test on the track.

ca18detman's combination works pretty good on the track, from what I've seen. My conversion should work ok too, although I'm only using single piston calipers all 'round.

For the street or for drag racing, Just doing the stanza lower arm trick and using 510/610 etc struts is the go. The stanza ones are still pretty small. The Booster is also a good modification. If you want to modify the firewall the 120Y booster is good, otherwise get an Mitsubishi/Chrysler LA/LB Lancer Booster and brackets.

This has been discussed to death on here already. Search the old messages for more info.

Chris.

i rectum the combo my brother in laws got is pretty good, read not as good as others but damn cheap

hilux four spots over U12 pintara discs on front
bluebird disc over drums on rear (H165 or H190 diff required)
and although we havent had it in yet weve got sunny booster and urvan master cylinder for it
i think hes got 120y boost and standard master at the moment but needs to do upgrade soon!

hi-lux 4's $50-100 pair depends on luck
pintara discs maybe $25 each
bluebird disc overs varies maybe around $100 if you havent got an all you can carry for $75 place like us
we also got booster and master at same time as disc-overs but maybe $60 or 70 for both

also required, new wheel bearings when putting on rear brakes $75
and machining of disc to increase inside diammeter and also take some width out of disc $know someone? maybe $50

max. total $415

hmm doesnt sound so cheap but if you can get some stuff cheap this comes down a lot, it is a pretty good setup too remember, it gives you vented fronts with 4-spots and discs on back with drum to hook existing handbrake upto

both these brakes require 14inch wheel min. to fit
